History of Colloidal Silver Colloidal silver has a long and varied history, dating back to ancient civilizations. The history of colloidal silver is rich and steeped in thousands of years of research and technological advancement. Going back more than a millennia, silver’s history is woven throughout some of the world’s most famous and intriguing stories. Here is a timeline and overview of its historical use: Ancient Times Ancient Greece and Rome: Silver containers were used to keep liquids fresh and prevent spoilage, indicating an early understanding of silver's preservative properties. Ayurvedic Medicine: Silver has been used in traditional Indian medicine for thousands of years. Silver nanoparticles are still utilized in some Ayurvedic preparations.

Middle Ages Noble Practice: European royalty and the wealthy often used silver utensils and goblets, believing that silver could protect them from disease. Medical Use: Physicians and alchemists in the Middle Ages recognized silver's antimicrobial properties. It was used in wound care and to prevent infection. During the Middle Ages, monks popularized the use of silver nitrate, a salt formed by reacting silver with nitric acid.

19th Century Medical Advancements: With the advent of modern medicine, silver nitrate became a common treatment for preventing neonatal eye infections and treating wounds. Surgical Instruments: Silver-coated surgical instruments were used to reduce infections during surgeries.

Early 20th Century Colloidal Silver Development: Around the 1900s, colloidal silver was developed and became a popular antimicrobial treatment. It was widely used by doctors to treat bacterial infections before the discovery of antibiotics. Medical Texts: Colloidal silver was documented in medical texts and journals, recommended for a variety of infections and illnesses.

Mid-20th Century Antibiotics Emergence: The discovery and widespread use of penicillin and other antibiotics in the 1940s led to a decline in the use of colloidal silver. Antibiotics were more effective, easier to administer, and had fewer side effects. Regulation: As antibiotics became the standard treatment, colloidal silver's medical use diminished, and it became more regulated.

Late 20th Century to Present Alternative Medicine: In the 1990s, colloidal silver saw a resurgence in the alternative medicine community. It was marketed as a supplement and natural remedy for a wide range of conditions. FDA Regulation: The FDA has not approved colloidal silver for any medical use, and it has issued warnings about its safety and efficacy. Despite this, it remains popular in natural health circle

COLLOIDAL SILVER

What Colloidal Silver does

Colloidal Silver works by releasing tiny nano micro particles of silver into the body, which can help fight off harmful bacteria and viruses. The silver particles attach to the cell walls of these pathogens and interfere with their ability to reproduce, ultimately leading to their destruction.

DNA Binding:

Colloidal silver may enter bacteria in the DNA to bind with it without actually destroying the hydrogen that bonds it together.

Catalytic Oxidation:

The colloidal silver may attach to oxygen molecules and react with the sulfhydryl groups that commonly orbit about viruses and bacteria and enhance or protect a compromised respiration system.

Bacterial Cell Membranes

Colloidal silver may attach to bacterial cell membranes and produces a beneficial blocking effect.

When you study history, you’ll find that silver has been used for a long time to treat various ailments. Humans have been known to use it as an anti-infection agent. During the 20th century, doctors used silver foil to bandage surgical incisions. Silver vessels were used to keep food and water fresh.
